CALCANEAL SPUR

A calcaneal spur is a calcium deposit that causes a bone spur on the underside of the heel bone. On X-ray, a heel spur can extend forward up to 5mm. In the absence of visible radiographic signs, this condition is sometimes referred to as "heel spur syndrome".

What causes of Calcaneal spur?

Calcaneal spur is generally associated with plantar fasciitis and plantar fasciitis, two painful foot pathologies that affect the arch of the foot, particularly the heel area. Plantar fasciitis is a common condition, characterized by intense pain in the heel area, usually felt with the first steps in the morning or after a period of rest. Heel spurs are often the result of inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of connective tissue that links the heel bone (the calcaneus) to the toes. When the plantar fascia undergoes micro-tears or inflammation due to overuse, excessive tension or foot problems such as over-pronation, this can lead to the formation of small bone spurs where the fascia attaches to the calcaneus.

Symptoms of calcaneal spur :

Symptoms of heel spur can vary in intensity, from mild discomfort to severe pain that can interfere with normal walking. This condition is common in people who spend a lot of time on their feet, wear inadequate footwear, or are overweight, as these factors can increase the pressure exerted on the heel. Diagnosis of heel spurs is usually based on the patient's medical history, a clinical examination and X-rays if necessary to confirm the presence of bone spurs.

Treatments for calcaneal spurs :

Treatment of calcaneal spur may include conservative measures such as rest, ice, stretching, supportive footwear, orthopedic insoles, as well as anti-inflammatory medication and muscle-strengthening exercises. In more severe cases, treatments such as corticosteroid injections or extracorporeal shockwave therapy may be considered. Prompt, appropriate treatment is essential for pain relief and effective recovery in people with heel spurs. If surgery is not required, the most effective long-term treatment is the use of suitable orthopaedic insoles.

  1. Mathieu Lefebvre

These insoles have been a real lifesaver for my heel spur. Their support under the heel is perfectly adapted to relieve muscle tension. I've regained pain-free mobility, and wear them every day.

  2. Aurélie C.

I've been treated by several podiatrists for my heel spur for the past 2 years, but their insoles didn't manage to relieve my pain. I also tried shock waves on my doctor's advice, but the pain kept coming back. What can I say... For the first time, I'm finally relieved! I highly recommend New Equilibre insoles. I no longer have any pain and the insoles are very comfortable. I can't do without them anymore.

  3. Jérôme G

I tried my luck with a pair of gel insoles to relieve my heel spur, but it was a total failure. They were uncomfortable and brought no relief. I then followed a friend's advice and opted for New Equilibre insoles. They immediately improved my pain and offered remarkable comfort. I only regret not having discovered them sooner.

  4. Gérard C-G.

After months of suffering from my heel spur, despite shock waves and physiotherapy, the insoles proved to be the most effective. I've been wearing them every day since, and there's been no pain at all.

  5. JEAN M.

I can't thank you enough. Your insoles are exceptional! My heel stopped hurting within a few days of using them, and I never leave them! I recommend them to anyone who can't find a solution for their heel pain. Thank you NEW EQUILIBRE!

  6. Daniel L.

    Relief noted

  7. thomas M.

Several months I had been followed by a podiatrist with orthopedic insoles modified several times to relieve the pain but nothing, and the insoles were too thick compared to those of New Equilibre. One week of these new insoles and I'm alive again. The pain during the day has totally disappeared and is still slightly present when I wake up. Easter hike with some apprehension but nothing. Not during, not after and not the next day. I highly recommend

  8. Jean-Marc D.

Je recommande. Très confortables et soulagent la douleur en quelques jours. Je ne les quitte plus. Merci beaucoup.
