New Equilibre insoles have a preventive role in the appearance of these pathologies, and a curative role in providing relief when pathologies are established:
The foot is composed of three concave arches, (hollowed down): the’inner arch whose apex is the scaphoid or navicular bone, the’outer arch whose apex is the base of the 5th metatarsal, and the’Anterior arch whose apex is the head of the 3rd metatarsal. Metatarsalgia concerns the anterior arch, who sags over time or more quickly with the wearing of high-heeled shoes. This anterior arch flattens and can even become convex (curving upwards), also called a round forefoot. This causes hyper-pressure at the mid-metatarsal heads (2nd, 3rd, 4th), and therefore the appearance of’warm-ups, and Sore paw pads of the forefoot. This collapse of the anterior arch of the foot can also create other pathologies.
Indeed, in the spaces between the metatarsals, we find bursae, nerves. Thus, when the falling metatarsals down, come compress the bursae, they cause interdigital bursitis, and when they compress the nerves, and notably the termination of the sciatic nerve, they cause Morton's neuroma.
